WE SHOULDN’T CALL AMBER ROSE A FORMER STRIPPER OR VIDEO VIXEN
(Let’s talk about how we as people of color refer to her)

While I may disagree with Amber Rose’s political views, I find it deeply troubling that her past as a former stripper and video vixen is used to undermine her right to contribute to political discourse. It is equally disconcerting that she is persistently defined by her previous occupations. Although references to past roles are common for many individuals, it is clear that in her case, such mentions are not intended to be complimentary or factual. Instead, they are employed to demean her and diminish her value as a person.
I think points can be made against Rose’s political statements without attacking her person. Constructive criticism should focus on the content of her arguments rather than resorting to ad hominem attacks that target her past. This approach not only fosters a more respectful and meaningful discourse but also upholds the principle that every individual, regardless of their background, has the right to engage in political dialogue. It is imperative that we strive to judge individuals based on the merit of their ideas and contributions, rather than allowing their past experiences to unjustly overshadow their present efforts.
Whether she is being paid to be a puppet or not, what matters is that she willingly chose to take a position. She was not coerced; she made a conscious decision to participate in the political sphere. Rather than engaging in mental gymnastics to dissect her motivations, we should emphasize the importance of dialogue.
